I once spent a great while attempting to fold time to fit in my pocket.
Eventually I took the bands off my watch.
I succeeded, then, in putting 12 hours in there. Now I’ve got time enough for anything that comes my way. I’m not sure what to do with such gifts, so I usually opt for siestas in a siesta-less culture.
See, here in America, we had us a revolution. We borrowed it from England, oh, around eighteen hundred and something. Nowadays we call it the Industrial Revolution. Back then, well, I don’t know what they called it. “Better,” I suppose.
Anyway, the point I’m getting at is that the revolution made everything easier for everybody. No need for horses, etc. Just hop on trains.
Not even letters need to catch a ride anymore. They’re turned them into ones and zeros and travel inside wires, which are metal strings sheathed in plastic.
It makes you wonder why, with all this convenience, we don’t sit down and have a margarita. Instead we brew more coffee and get back on the clock.
Progress begets progress, it seems.
Shame, really…
We could all be having such wonderful naps.
